Ok, Folks, I have a couple of questions for ya'all, here they are....
First soem backround:
I'm starting a new contract with Rogers here in Canada, the only phone that I even wanted was the newish Nokia 6686 that has TALKS pre-installed.. I right now have a Nokia 6620 with a crack of Talks in it, I LOVE TALKS&ZOOMS, I'm completely addicted to it! I have very low-vision and basicially use both the talking function as well as the Zooms part of it...
Now for the Questions:
1. What if any, are the drawbacks to the new phone?
2. What Kind of Battery life can I expect (with 30-60 minutes of talking a day and moderate phone usage) ?
3. How Customizable is the software, with the 6620, I can change speed and pitch, as well as screen magnification and high contrast is possible, Can I do this with a 6686?
4. what kind of speaker quality does the 6686 have? is it as tinny as the 6620 could get?
ok, thats about it for now....
Are you sure you don't mean the Nokia6682? or, is there a new phone I haven't heard of? if it is indeed the 6682, it's a really good, solid phone. I had it until very recently, and I've now upgraded to the N82. The 6682 isn't that different in appearance from the 6620, and I found the battery life to be reasonable; I just charge it at night, and talked for about an hour or so (give or take) during the day. The phone wouldn't die after an hour of talktime or anything though, and it has pretty good reception (though that obviously depends on where you are). But, that's the 6682--which may be an entirely different phone from the 6686, which sounds like it's new. Good luck-new phones are so much fun!
lol, yeah, its the 6682, oops! lol, Thanks Skyla, I'm really nervous as I've had the 6620 since it came out in 2003, I love that thing, but it's getting old and slow.. I am just getting rid of a LG MUZIQ from Bell Mobility, it's absolute CRAP for accessibility...
The 6682 is a good phone. I used to have one until I upgraded to the Motorola Q.
I can't really compare it to the 6620 because I've never seen one. but the 6682 is about the size of a playing card (obviously not in thickness, but length and width). I used it with Talks, and everything worked great.
I'd actually say it's a bit longer than a playing card (though really, it isn't that different in its shape from the 6620). I can relate to the nervousness in switching, but I'd say it's definitely, definitely worth it. I was going to sell my 6682, but decided to keep it as back-up, in case something happens to my current phone. It's a fantastic phone! I do hope you get it!
yeah, put my order in last week, should get it tomorrow or Wednesday.
woohoo! let us know how you like it!
ok, so I got my phone tonight, it was delivered by UPS around 7:30pm, I have been playing with it all night, and Cam was here for a few hours too, so he got to fiddle with it too.
so far, I am pleasantly surprised, I like it a lot, and I feel really comfortable with it. the only little thing that is a tad bit annoying is that the nuance talks comes on as talks&zooms, but actually the zooms is not able to be used, not too annoying, but just one little thing that kinda pissed me off.
Really? isn't there a magnification tab in the talks windo? you can get to it by right and left arrowing, I believe.
